It's back to CGI this week. The Adobe Substance team have released a range of new materials on Substance Source entitled Parametric Cities. These are editable 3D textures designed to make city buildings. They are very clever and opening them in Substance Designer reveals the node networks used to create them. You can read more here: https://magazine.substance3d.com/parametric-cities-a-2021-collection-of-materials/
I decided to give them a try out and, using Blender and Substance Painter, quickly came up with the city scene below.
So now you have this week's scene, what will you make with it?
The “rules”:
To download the image at 3840 x 2560 pixels, with an embedded ICC colour profile (sRGB), hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).
When posting back your image – please use the Blue reply button in this first post. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun.

A little too subtle Jacob (I did spot it eventually)

I apologize, Dave. Wait, what?
You started it this time, creating the first half exactly that subtle.
So what else could you expect, after those by me in SFTW 34 + 41/42 + 58, and all those by James?
Either of us had to do it.

A nice puzzle. I did find all three of them but only after over-lighting with Levels.

This is truly beautiful, Dave! While it seems like we can peek into the windows a bit, I can't quite see what anyone is eating for dinner. 🤣 Nicely done!

Thank you Jane. Of course a certain Mister Monroy would have shown you the detail in every window but his image would have taken months or years not just a couple of hours 🙂

I am considering making videos and posting on YouTube what and how I do these. I would point people to come here to download and share. Dave, would that be OK with you? And... would anyone have any interest in watching? 🙂

Hi Melissa
Nice job, if we get that close to the moon though the tide may come up and flood us all 🙂
Go for the video - but can you credit the original image please 🙂

Intriguing Graham. I like the water and was wondering whether the the image is printed onto a canvas or concrete block?

its printed on the water disc so thats above the concrete & is basiclly looking down at a sidewalk puddle in the rain ... if i had time I would have made more side lights to sell the effect
