Something for the weekend - Part 118 - If I had a hammer........

"If I had a hammer...." went the Pete Seeger and Lee Hays song.  So this week I've made you a hammer, and rendered four views of it. I've put them on a transparent background so there's nothing to do in cutting them out.

What will you do with your hammer?

The “rules”:

  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!

To download the image below at 3840 x 2160 pixels, with an embedded ICC colour profile (sRGB), hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

When posting back your image – please use the Blue reply button in this first post. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun.

Hitting the nail on the head

Now, if the shank had a thread, and you hit hard enough, it might be a type of Flat-Head Screw. But that's pretty lame.

I just figured out how to create Patterns with Libraries.  I'm sure it's old hat to all of you, but new to me.  So I played with it a little.

That feature in libraries is probably one of the most well hidden features in the app. So thanks for reminding us all that it's there Rista.

In addition to Dave’s model of the hammer, our sub-theme this week seems to be music and Pete Seeger, which cannot be complete without including the African-American spiritual John Henry. John Henry was a railroad worker who raced the steam drill with his hammer and won, but “died with a hammer in his hand”.

This folksong has been recorded by many, but I'll link to Pete:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9Zt0O2lyhk

“The man that invented the stream drill thought he was mighty fine,

But John Henry made fifteen feet; the steam drill only made nine.

The steam drill only made nine.

John Henry hammered in the mountain; his hammer was striking fire.

But he worked so hard, he broke his poor heart.

He laid down his hammer and he died.”

He laid down his hammer and he died.”

What better way to spend a quiet, no-news Saturday than at the golf course?
