Something for the weekend - Part 151 - Watching the clock

This is the dock clock tower at Middlesbrough in the North East of England. It was built in 1847 and served as both a clock for the dock area and a water tower for the hydraulic dock gates. It only has three clock faces as, reputedly, one dockside business did not want its employees clock watching! In the background is the Tees transporter bridge , but that might be a subject for another day.
Enough of the history. Can you now put the tower to a new use?

What we do have near me in Scotland is the Falkirk Wheel.
It's the worlds only rotating boat lift.
Such is the efficiency of the mechanism and the balancing of the boat pods due
to Archimedes principle that it only consumes 1.5kWh of energy for each lift.

Sadly the bridge was closed in 2019 when serious safety issues in the structure came to light. Emergency repairs were carried out, but there have been lots of discussions and arguments about how renovations will be made and paid for and a "task force" was set up this year to look at options. So, it remains closed at present.
