Hi
There were some fantastic ideas in our last pepper-mill challenge, thanks to all who took part.
This weekend we go outdoors. The children's song said, 'If you go down in the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise....' Well can you show us what that surprise might have been?
The “rules”:
* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc
* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum "regulars".
* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
* The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.
To download the image below at full size, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).
When posting back your image – please use the blue reply button in this first post. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun
Dave

Those woods are local. I think I'll give that tree a very wide berth next time I walk past it 🙂

That's funny. Hey, @EuanWilliamson, we have an opening in marketing if you're interested!

I especially like this one Jain. It's nicely laid out in a professional content creator's kind of a way. It is funny and the colouring brings it all together. I'd have maybe done something to delineate the black text from the background, but that's just being picky.
It is also orders of magnitude easier to read than a certain motorcycle magazine I used to buy. It was called Bike, and while the team knew about sports bikes and how to ride them, they were pants at putting a magazine together. The mock up below is exactly the sort of text against background colours they used. I am not even exaggerating to make a point. They really were that bad.

James, I scrolled up to your image from the bottom of the page, but I would have been prepared to bet serious money that it was one of yours. 🙂

@War Unicorn I would seriously love to curate an exhibition at the ICP of your SFTW entries. Maybe they will take notice?

I would love that, Jain. Wouldn't Dave have to clear that, though? The entries have his assets. (Heck, I'd love these for my portfolio. I was this close to getting a new job the other day. lol )

Yes! We will get Dave's permission, and he will get his due commission ;-). I see no reason why you couldn't use them in your own portfolio, though? In any event, I remain a big fan and if you need a referral, let me know, lol.

[EDIT The 10Mb file size limit is a royal pain!
If you previously saw the smaller version of this, you might need to refresh the page to get the edited version to display properly

Perfect, Trevor! I had been thinking we were due for a TARDIS or Dalek — maybe because I'm catching up on the early episodes and just saw one in someplace called Northumbria in 1066.

Jane, Northumbria is just a bit north of Dave, where Dunstanburgh Castle is; you know it well.
Some officials decided to give it another official name a while ago.
It is a bit like the way some officials over there decided to give Denali another official name which many refused to use, and eventually the real name came back.
Northumbria is still waiting for the same.
