Hi
It's that time again, the weekend is about to start and it's time for another challenge. The idea for this week's starter image came from @jane-e who told me how she came across a thimble which she has had since her childhood. Of course, the thimble is worn when creating things by sewing, but what can you make from from the thimble itself?
The “rules”:
* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc
* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum "regulars".
* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
* The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.
To download the image below at full size, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).
When posting back your image – please use the blue reply button in this first post. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun
Dave

It amazes me the uses that the thimble has found. I think you have the highest Rafael !

I looked at this and thought of the Filter Forge Drost Effect. That ran OK, (I think), but when I tried to make it more interesting with Topaz Glow, it shut my computeer down every time. Not so much a crash, but just as if the reset button had been pressed. I tried it three times, and it happened at about the same point each time. I've had the same thing happen with one of the Nueral Filters. Style Transfer causes a reset every time. Now I think about it, both the Topaz Glow and Style Transfer restarts happen when I click on one of the presets. What on earth would cause that to happen?
Hmmm... I was hoping to get a bit more life out of this system, but it might be time for a new one.

Trevor,
Try updating your graphics driver using the Nvidia site. Choose the latest Studio driver and when installing use Advanced options - Clean Install. That will overwrite any remnants of the old driver.

Dave, I was using the Game Ready drivers with auto update. I swapped to Studio Driver with a clean install, and it did last a bit longer, but shut down again when applying Style Transfer Nueral filter.

Is the thimble in there ? If so, it is well hidden 🙂

It's the circle you see at the top, transformed and duplicated to oblivion. 🙂 (You can kind of see the bottom of the thimble around the outer edge.)

@Jacob Bugge Just an FYI, I always get a “Not secure site” warning when clicking through to your submissions because you don't have the secure connection protocol (https). Has your certificate expired?

Thank you very much for the alert, Jain. I will look into this.

Thank you again, Jain, all sorted.
I apologize for the inconvenience, which has been a wee bit (too?) close to the Crown Brand approach/experience.

@Jacob Bugge - Your images are now showing for me in Chrome without having to open your link in a new window. Not sure if that's due to a Chrome update or an Adobe forums one.

I'm seeing them as well without having to click through. (Yay!) Using Brave as my browser.
