Something for the Weekend - Part 171 - Misty Nights

Thanks to all who took part in our piggy bank challenge. There were some great ideas and images.

For this week, I've set a scene for you. 'Twas a dark and misty night in old London town....... but what happened next?

The “rules”:

I looked up some of it on YouTube last night, and had no idea how complex the situation was.  More like an action movie than a soap opera.  John Stape has just murdered a woman who tried to blackmail him.  What was she thinking!?  Didn't she realise he was a crazy axeman psychopath?  John is on the verge of confessing. He has dialled the first two nines (the number for emergency services is 999 in the UK) when a huge gas explosion rocks the street.  'Aye up' thinks John, and starts dragging the dead woman along the 'ginnel' to the scene of the explosion.

The explosion causes the viaduct and tram tracks to collapse, and just when you think 'Is this really happening in a soap opera?' A tram crashes off the viaduct onto the cobbles below and crashes into The Kabin.   One of the cast sees John Stape dragging the dead woman, so John — quick thinking psycho that he is — starts dragging the dead woman _away_ from the crash site asking the cast member, 'Quick! Help me get this poor woman away from the danger zone before a plane crashes.'  He starts trying to resuscitate the very dead woman causing blood to spurt from the stab wound as he administers chest compressions.  All a bit heavy for a show that goes out before the nine pm watershed.

Meanwhile, Ashley 'Squeaky' Peacock is killed as he heroically tries to rescue someone from the crash site.  Viewers are split between sympathy and relief thinking they won't have to hear his intensley annoying squeaky voice ever again.

'Psycho' Stape's cunning plan works, and he remains free to kill again.

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know Coronation Street was so dark. Thought it was the UK Neighbours 🙂
