According to the stone above the door, England's King Charles (the first not the present) stood on this tower, now named Phoenix Tower, in Chester and saw his army defeated. I wonder what it looked like that day in 1645?

John it took me a moment to work out the link to the tower, but I have got it now. You are going to be thrown into 'The Tower' for your sacrilegious satire! 😉

I was afraid I might get some demerits for not using the source image 😉

Tip: you can place the original picture in Photoshop in a layer behind your background layer. That will follow the instructions. 🤣

Clever! There is a tower, but not for Charles I. Hopefully Charles III does not end like Charles I.

Hi,
There is a little Story behind my SFTW187 ...
Here in Germany we had in Berlin the Berlin Wall until 1990. When the Wall was still there, there were inner-German border points. One of them was in the middle of Berlin and it was called Checkpoint Charlie. The other thing is that there are usually corresponding towers on the wall itself, which were manned day and night by armed soldiers and which were intended to prevent an escape from one part of the city to the other. In Essence I also "build" a Tower where the Checkpoint was.
After the so-called fall of the wall, we were on a class trip and I had the opportunity to cut off a small piece of the wall myself. I still have that piece of history. So in essence I have a Piece of Charlies Tower so to say 😉

I love the story Henrik. We know about Checkpint Charlie from a dozen spy books and movies. Lots of them written by John LeCarre.

The good old times, when a spy still was a spy with a small pocket camera, sunglasses, and a hat. https://www.visitberlin.de/en/checkpoint-charlie

A historical mash up Henrik, an unusual use of the tower and a bit of history to go with it! 🙂

I liked it very much. It reminded me of an image I saw years ago of a tightrope walking elephant.
I had a lot of fun with the new remove tool in Photoshop beta.

Ok, I went hunting. I didn't find the one I had, but I found one very similar.
The one I had was of a circus in Kirriemuir circa 1910. This is of a similar vintage.
Can you spot the critical detail here?
(it's two men in an elephant constume)

Euan, it occurred to me that we have a tool for finding such images now. Despite elephants supposedly being one of the most intelligent animals on our planet, this one did not appreciate that bottom burps are not a good idea when passing over a burning pit.

Jumanji 3 I think 😉

Haha - that is funny. We just need Charles to walk down those steps 🙂

A nicely done animation Trevor. I love the way the tower is stretched to fit that scene.

Anyone remember Eddie Izzard's Dalek routine? It's a bit old so the IQ is not great.
