We see a lot of modern wind turbines these days but this windmill, in York, dates back to 1770 and was milling flour long before the houses appeared around it in the 1900's. Now restored, by volunteers in the Holgate Mill Preservation Society, it is open to visitors and does grind flour on open days.
The restorers have done an excellent job on the mill, but can you show what the scene might have looked like in its golden years of the 18th century?

A nice change to the image Trevor. At first I thought you'd missed the original windmill, but the building is in there 🙂

Jane, I am looking for a broken egg, and all the King's horses, and all the King's men. I hope the horse is a bit less frisky than the one he was riding at the recent Trooping of the Colour. Incidentally, this is one time when it is mandatory to spell Colour with the 'u' on pain of being thrown in the Tower.

I hadn't seen that frisky horse, Trevor — that's funny! I hope Charles doesn't try to battle any windmills thinking they are monsters as our poor Don Quixote is about to do.

Excellent idea Jane - we get well educated in these SFTW threads 🙂

The Daleks attempts to replicate the Doctors time travelling Tardis came unstuck as there was a massive failure in the chameleon module.

Haha - Daleks in York! They'll not win against true Yorkshire grit though ! 🙂

Oh, that is a masterful interpretation of the original Euan. Now, excuse me while I go and hide behind the sofa. Actually, Eddie Izzard worked out the flaw in their design. It's incredible to think that video is about 30 years old, and barely watchable. I don't remember TV IQ being that bad that recently.

I like it with a bit more color and white doves as we know it here 😉

We'll not miss that one now Henrik. I worry about those bendy sails though !

Dave, the sails are a nightmare to get a good selection of. Unless you are prepared to spend an hour or so with the Pen tool. Hey, I wonder how well Replace Sky would work? Nope... It's even worse than Select and Mask.

Another repurposing of the Windmill. Photoshop's new functions have given my enthusiasm a push — not that it needed it. I spent most of yesterday and some of today doing this one.
Thje lighthouse is 100% Photoshop from the platform upwards.
My favourite feature right now is FT > Warp > Cylinder than turns this
into this, and you can control the perspective (top and bottom independantly) and the degree of wrap around. That is orders of magnitude better for making things like this grid look real.

Ain't that the truth! I have that album. Still play it. Thanks, @Trevor.Dennis for that link. I should have known it would be on YouTube, but it had never occurred to me to look for it.

Complicated outline Dave, but here's what I believe the actual surroundings used to look like for this grand windmill

A nice interpretation Bob and that is some beautiful light. I particularly like the Dutch style house. I am sure there is a wee boy with his finger plugging a hole in a dike (*) the other side of that highground on the right.
(*) Misspelled to defeat the swear bot that wouldn't let me post this — we call them stop banks here.
