Hi
We had some great entries to our last 'vice' challenge, thanks to all who took part.
This week we have Clifford's tower in York. Originally a wooden structure built on the mound in around 1068 it was rebuilt in stone in the 13th century and repaired and restored in the 16th century. It has a long, and sometimes gruesome, history and has been a castle keep, a military prison, and even a royal mint. The name, incidentally, comes from Roger De Clifford a Baron who was executed for treason in 1322 at the tower.
So we have the tower and the mound, what can you do to show the next chapter in its history, hopefully more peaceful than its past?
The “rules”:
* Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc
* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum "regulars".
* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
* The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only. Sorry to emphasise this, but the image is not for use elsewhere.
To download the image below, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right.
Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

Have fun.

Firefly and Generative Fill are not involved.

No Firefly? No generative fill? Only good old Photoshop magic? Yes, some people even still know how that works.

I loved the idea JR, but — and I hope you don't mind me saying — the sharp transition from stone wall to waterfall was too abrupt. If it was a waterfall, then we see darker water at the rim foaming up into the lighter tones. Something like this. This is simply a bar of the darker colour, then the lower part selected and blurred, and finally the smudge tool to randomize the transition.
You could make it look like the water was coming from stone tubes by masking the bottom of the towers following the curves of one of the courses, and add a tiny bit of shade below that to move the water back the thickness of the stonework. Just my 2 cents worth.

It was a sad reflection on our time that you had to write that! (reference to no AI)

I hope that is the past and not the future. It looks very effective.

Excellent work Jess. At first I saw the lawn, path and flowers in spring and early autumn. But the smaller details are also clever , not least the windows.

Thank you Dave! I often enjoy adding in small details to see who looks at things a little closer 😉

Beautiful Jess, and it lifted my day. Is there any truth in the roumour that Uber Eats are training seagulls to deliver? I can imagine the meals would be mostly gone by the time they get to the customer.

Thank you Trevor!
Alas, I agree. Sea gulls might not be the most reliable delivery methods 😉
