Thanks to all who took part in our previous 'milestone' challenge.
This week we start with a simple comb. I have little use for one these days, but what can you make with it?
The “rules”:
To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). I've already put it on a transparent background, to save you time masking.
When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun!
Dave

We should be safe with them behind there. At least until they realise they can walk around the ends! Nice job, Bob.

That's a great job bending the comb around the neck Trevor.

The way it worked out was I thought Polar Coordinates might be interesting, and after distorting the comb the ferocious dog idea came right at me. It's funny how ideas are generated. I find I can be dry of them for days, and then see someone else's upload and immediately think of another idea. Other times I'll Google relevant words, and run them through a thesaurus, but there are times when absolutely nothing comes. What I do find is that when I have an idea that makes me smile, I have to stop what I was doing and develop that idea.
I'd be interested in how other people generate SFTW ideas if nothing hits them right off the bat?

I'll usually futz with the image until an idea comes. I can get really out there with the abstracts. xD

When nothing happens, rather rarely maybe a few times each year, I find myself going behind the starter image (story/location/time/whatever), or diving into the image itself, or just letting it grow on me, until it happens; almost all delays in making an entry are caused by its snowballing into a story or other elaboration, or by time spent trying to find and incorporate other imagery as here in 225, browsing countless, downloading a few, and settling on (the) one that works.

I noodle. I'll try a filter or two (Polar Coordinates was a great idea!), preferably something I haven't used in a long time, just to get a fresh look at it. Experimenting with bits of Photoshop that I don't usually work with can jog an idea loose, like using Parametric Filters on the shaving brush image. Usually I'm looking for some bit that appeals to me, like the milestone, or the petraglyph in the lighthouse scene. I start from there and go where the ideas take me. It's all visual, though, and if I can't find anything that interests me in the starter image I'll usually skip it.

Sometimes I'll look at Dave's clever subject line. This time I was inspired by his comment, "I have little use for one these days". Sometimes I'll think of something right away and other times it takes a few days for an idea to pop into my head. I don't really have a method, Trevor.

Sometimes it's obvious from the headline.
Sometimes I also need to see what others make of it to get my thoughts going into other directions. For me it's often a story or something that I associate with the headline, not with the image itself.

Apparently they also make all sizes of bottle brushes. I had a dentist appointment earlier on Thursday. At the end of the appointment they handed me a goody bag of dental care products. In it had these little so called bottle brushes only they're not for bottles but large gaps in some teeth. That's what this reminds me of. I know its weird. LOL 😁
Also, how come this thread is not anchored like its usually done? I had a bit of trouble finding this latest activity.

Kitty, concerning its being not anchored, I am afraid you will find it entangled in the former one.

@Jacob Bugge in this community it is not 'entagled' but runs as a separate thread for each challenge (as always).

Sorry Dave, I have been unaware that SFTW is (normally) featured/anchored in the Photoshop ecosystem, so I misunderstood Kitty.

It is 'Featured' in this community. It may have been knocked of its perch by the additional featured posts associated with the MAX launches, that have been added since this thread was started.

Photographed this Arabian beauty a few years back - I was delighted to notice that the comb exactly matches her mane!

And you had already brushed out her tail beautifully with the colour matching mane comb, Jill.
