Something for the Weekend — Part 229 — Hippity Hop!

Community Expert ,
Dec 06, 2024 Dec 06, 2024

Thank you to Dave for allowing me a turn to share an image this "weekend" and to all who took part in our previous miner's safety lamp challenge. There were some great ideas and images.

This weekend we have a an image of Rabbit Ears Peak near Steamboat, Colorado. The 5.5-mile roundtrip trail is considered a moderately challenging route and is beautiful in good weather.

What can you do with it?

The “rules”:

  • Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright, etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum “regulars”.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off your skills, or bring a bit of humor and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
  • The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun!

Jane

I looked at this for a while seeing the hint of a rabbit, and then it suddenly popped!  It's clear as day now, and has obtained a 3D quality — in my head at least.  Nice one.

Jain, Trevor, I believe this is one of many SFTW cases that show differences in (sense of) sight. I immediately saw, and still see, a softer/fluffy rabbit head protruding/growing out from a coarser/crusty rock background, the ears particularly fluffy/hazy/blurred and fully in front of the background, all partially transparent/see through with darker parts (and especially the head increasingly to the right) appearing more solid, (somewhat) resembling a hologram in greys.

I see what you mean, Dave, but a peek above the peak shows who had to duck, and how much, to have the tips of the ears within the picture.

Still at it.

I can feel a recursion/Drost effect on its way.

We have a Mt Fishtail that we can just about see from our house.  It's 1640M (starting at 210M).  I've not been to the top, but Chris has.   There must be lots of peaks, and geographical features, named after wildlife.  Does anyone have one near where they are located?  Alaska has a few according to Google.

I can't look at this without thinking of a certain Genesis track from Wind and Wuthering and this line specifically:

This explains why the sign said, "Trail open from 8AM to 5PM"!
