Hi,
There were some great entries to our Fulling Mill challenge, thanks to everyone who took the time to create and post them.
This week we start with an object, and an apology to writer Neil Munro for using his puffer steamboat's title this week. Those familiar with petrol (gasoline) engines will recognise the object as a spark plug. Those with electric or diesel engines will have to use your imagination. So we have our starting object, what can you turn it into?
The “rules”:
To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). It is in png format with a transparent background so the cutting out is already done for you.
When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun!
Dave

What no eyes this week, James 🙂
That might have gone OK as a gif if you dropped the frame rate to around 12fps (0.083s per frame)

*True,* but there would be no sound effect.

Ah, I had the sound off on my PC.

Well it looks promising so far. You have me woprried that my screen is going to explode if I try and post this. Well here goes nothing!
[EDIT] I was really hoping that it would loop like Shorts do on YouTube.

Firefly Video went live today, so I am hoping to be the first to use it in a SFTW thread (because I am shallow like that). It got a bit ropey at the end, because I kept adding stuff and I am already late to where I am supposed to be. (I might fix it later)

YouTube is still processing it, so it looks a bit low res at the moment.

No it looks amazing!

I thought this was a lot of fun, and tried to have another go when I got home today, and was greeted with this

AI did not do a bad job, although I notice it bent the spark terminal on the end of the plug while rotating and the logo disappeared then re-appeared.

I did some work in Photoshop giving it two repeats, and added the logo. I have always used Premier Pro for video, and found Photoshop frustrating and unpredictable, so when the curves layer I'd clipped to the logo did not have any effect when I added the fade at the end it turned to custard when I later tried to fix it. I had the plug and logo grouped as an SO in the layers panel, and isolating that layer showed that it was working as it should, that was not the case in the timeline.
Firefly is supposed to do 1920 x 1080 full res video now, but if you freeze frame any part of that video, it looks pretty nasty. I guess that is mute if they want us to pay US$10 for 20 videos. Colin Smith uploaded a video on Firefly video yesterday, and the comments were mostly from Adobe haters. (they didn't make hats 😉 )
I wonder if we get two free goes a month, or are we locked out permanently unless we pay. Someone recommended Pika and Kling, but they are both subscription only
BTW someone mentioned rules in a recent SFTW thread, but next time I have a bit of video to play with, I am opening up Prem Pro. Photoshop is _horrible_ for editing video.

You don't have to use Photoshop for SFTW, Trevor, although obviously may do. We've had images made in After Effects, Premiere Pro, Animate, Illustrator, Substance 3D even Blender.

It might be the scale but I can't see the starter image. Nice shiny engine though. 🙂

It will certainly light up the proceedings if someone grabs the terminals.
