Thanks to all who took part in our last 'Pot Luck' challenge.
This week I thought we might start with an industrial scene. This was the last blast furnace in Redcar, but unfortunately it was closed down in 2015 and has now been demolished. Sadly, it marked then end of the use of blast furnaces, to make steel by the river Tees, which had gone for 140 years.
What can you make with this industrial scene?

The ghost of John Henry, American folk hero, returns to challenge the ghost of the blast furnace in Redcar. When he took on the steam drill, he made 15 feet while the steam drill only made 9. Details in Wikipedia and other sites, or just listen to Pete Seeger sing John Henry's story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV339k4iPaI.

I loved the sone Jane. The picture has me thinking of Lech Wałęsa and his Solidarity movement, although I think that was a pick and hammer. Having just searched, I can't find images of Lech with the pick and hammer, but it's there in my head for sure.

Trevor, it's believed that the song originated as a work song and there are many versions of it. Woody Guthrie sings a version that is very close to Pete's while Johnny Cash has different lyrics altogether. There is a statue of John Henry in the park named after him:

John, these images all seem to remind us of something. This time it was Avicii (Tim Burgling) Levels video.
Hmmm... Not sure what's going on, but the forum won't let me 'Like' your post.

You'll be needing some empty Fairy Liquid bottles, and toilet roll cardboard tubes.
