Hi,
Thanks to everyone who put forward an image for our last 'Misty Mountains' challenge.
This week we stay outdoors and start with this prickly thistle. In the background are the walls of Dunstanburgh Castle on the North East Coast of England. What can you make from this week's image?
The “rules”:
To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).
When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun!
Dave

Is anyone else having a problem upvoting? I can't seem to do so for anyone's images here.

Weird. It's working now and I didn't do anything since mentioning it.
*sigh* lol

It comes and goes with no pattern. I was able to upvote your 'weird' post above (that's probably confusing because all of your posts are wierd 😉 ) and I upvoted Greg's Witch no problem, but I have repeatedly tried to upvote JR's image on page 2 without success. I have tried a hard reset, different browsers, signed out and back in again, but nothing works. The secret forum we are not allowed to talk about says it knows about it, so we have to assume it will be looked at and fixed.

Same here Jane. It's not a lost focus thing because just clicking on it would fix that. I've been having to Ctrl F5 to do a hard reset before it will accept input from me. It's been doing it for a few days now.

Dave, when I first read the prompt, I thought you were referring to Dunsinane Castle.

I think Joni Mitchell would have something to say about that! 😉
BTW I have tried to give your image a like, but even after a hard reset, it's not letting me.
Just tried a different broswer, and signing out and back in, but still no luck. It looks like it is broken.

Oh no, not that! It's a very good job you have made of it though, JR.

When I first had this idea I had it in my head that The Day of the Triffids and The War of the Worlds were the same story. People watched the pretty meteor storm, went to bed and woke up blind to a world full of Triffids and Tripods with lasers. I even found images with Triffids and Tripods together. When I realised I had got it wrong, I did't want to change it, so I'll claim artistic license. BTW The couple in the blue shirts gave it their best shot, but it was hopeless and they both got eaten by the Triffid.

Artistic license is what SFTW is famous for, Trevor! 🙂

We could do with a bit of that Dean, it's hardly rained here for a month.

They both have sharp points, but I think I know which one is going to win 🙂

This is a stretch, but I imediately thought of this video after reading your post Dave. It doesn't matter how many times I watch this, I laugh and laugh at the unexpected ending. WARNING There is an F-bomb @0:36

A thorn amongst roses, to invert the common phrase. I like the idea and the execution, Brad. 🙂

You know I've always wanted to photograph the northern lights, but never managed to be out on the right night 🙂
