Thanks to all who participated in our previous, Halloween based, challenge. There were some great ideas and images shared. This week we have something different.
'One hundred and eighty', the highest score with three darts, became famous for the way it was called out by Russ Bray, a professional referee with a unique style to his declaration of the score. So this week, I bring you three darts (actually a 3D render). What will you make with them, 180 or something else entirely?
The “rules”:
To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). It is rendered with a transparent background so no need to create an initial mask.
When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun!
Dave

Is this Ai @Oh.N8 ? I'm looking at how well it has created jelly limbs and hands to hold the dart. I am also not sure if that is a shadow or a puddle of sea water beneath the jelly fish, or both.
Isn't amazing how the big eyes and turned up mouth portray a sense of happiness and cuteness. It ould be a good skill the learn knowing how to use simple lines to suggest a state of mind. Methinks I might go and ask Google how to do that.

Hey @Trevor.Dennis
I took it into PS and help add those little digits. Used a layer mask as the digits were already there to some extent. The layer in the middle is clearly the dart. I cleaned up the initially image to make it look clean.
After that used a hue/ saturation, levels and an exposure layer to help make the image pop.
Cheers
Nate

Hah! Not a good time to be interrupted and lose concentration.
Long time posters will remember Benjamin Root. He told us about a super-bright torch that he'd bought, but complained that it had a narrow beam. I made this for him as a warning that it is safer to know more than what is immediately in front of you. I wonder how he is nowadays?

Something about the color and shape of the flights on the darts made me think of a Rolodex.

Myra, this so reminded me of those flipbook machines they used to have in fairgrounds and amusment arcades a zillion years ago. It took me a wee while to find sime images, because I did not know that they are actually called 'mutoscopes'. I grew up on a farm at the end of Southend Airport's main runway, so my brothers and I used to enjoy a trip to the seafront and Southend pier (longest in the universe)

That's so cool, @Trevor.Dennis! I remember seeing stereographs, but I'm not sure if I've seen a mutoscope in person. 🙂

Goodness! You are not nearly old enough. 😉 I remember there was one in the amusements at the end of Southend Pier, and that I would have been about 10, so 1959. ISTR it was called 'What the Butler saw' so not altogether appropriate for a 10 year old lad.
There was also a Laughing Policeman machine. They both took an old money penny (240 pennies made £1).
I used to pay 11 old pennies for a pint of Starlight bitter (before I was old enough to be in the pub). Just under four shillings for a gallon of two-stroke for my Vespa, and £5000 for my first house.

True, but I would always look out for things like that at museums or other attractions. I can't remember if Six Flags used to have one in the area where they used to take the old timey photos where you dressed up as if you were in a Western.
I've seen more zoetropes which are also pretty cool. 🙂

Here's my creation! I aimed to make the tentacles resemble the darts, but I struggled with that (any advice would be greatly appreciated!). I started by creating an image on Firefly and was prompted to create an octopus in the style of Salvador Dali's surrealism. I then added a crown made of darts, along with a big "180" on the forehead.

Free Transform Warp would be an easy way to make the dart curl like a tenticle.
Take it a step further: Remove the point and FT > warp > Flag the rest of the dart. Make a coiled path and stroke it with a brush that has size jitter set to Fade. Do that once with grey, and then again on a new layer with a smaller brush using white. Blur the white a wee bit and merge giving it depth. You could increase contrast to give it some shine.
BTW Fade works in the same direction that the path is created, so you need to start the path at the fat end.

Travis, you're amazing! I truly appreciate the tutorial in the comments; it came in handy. I'll make sure to experiment with the warp tool more. Thanks once again! 😄

BTW I am sorry, but the forum is not letting me upvote your image. I tried a hard reset (Ctrl F5)
It does this sometimes and I don't think any of us know what is causing it and how to fix it.
I tried with Chrome and Edge (spit) and neither worked, so it is probably a forum thing.
