Something for the weekend - Part 40 - On the beach

Community Expert ,
Oct 05, 2018 Oct 05, 2018

Hi

Thanks for the great response to last weekend's barber shop challenge. This week we have a real photograph rather than a 3D model scene. It is part of the beach at Balnakeil Bay on the north coast of Scotland. A beautiful, if somewhat remote, spot to visit although the weather is not always exactly tropical.

So, I bring you the beach - what will you add to it to bring it to life?  Pirates, sea creatures, tourists or something else entirely. The choice is , as always, entirely yours.

Anything goes as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc.

Anyone is welcome to have a go - whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert.

There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun.

When posting back your edited images please use jpeg and downsize to 1200px on the long side.

To download the image below in jpeg format with ICC color profile (sRGB) and without the forum scaling artefacts , right click and then use Save Image As /Save Target As (or similar depending on your browser).

Have fun.

Dave

Hi Myra

First in with an image. Is that ice cream and chocolate ? I can't think of a better way to start a weekend.

I merely added another photograph (at least that is what I'm told it is)

Wow - looks like it's going to be a good weekend !

Jerry - looks like Nessie is on her holidays !

Rista - Brave souls indeed. We have a similar event here on Boxing day in the North Sea, known as the "Boxing Day Dip". The local firemen then hose down the participants when they come out of the water just to get the salt off. With seawater temperatures around 6 degrees C and air temperatures around freezing it takes a certain mentality to do it

Trevor - A new splash screen - I can imagine the outcry !

HothWampa - A trip to greek mythology ? I like it.

c.pfaffenbichler - I love the style of this one. My google translate is having trouble with the words though - can you help?

Keep them coming - all are welcome to have a go

My google translate is having trouble with the words though - can you help?

It’s »Schiff, Wasser, Felsen« which translates as »Shop, Water, Rocks«.

The Fraktur fonts have two different lowercase »s«, maybe I used a wrong one in there.

Ah, "Ship ,Water , Rocks"  that makes sense. I'd missed the difference between the lower case 's' and the lower case 'f'

Ged - Captain Jack Sparrow did visit Scotland then !

Dean - welcome to SFTW. That does look like it could warm the beach somewhat !

I've hidden all 26 letters of the alphabet in the image. Can you find them all?  ........

Do you know where this is Ged?  It looks like the Black Cullin on Skye.  I've climbed Sgurr Alasdair and it was quite a slog.  A proper gut-buster

My favourite video when it comes to the mountains on the Isle of Skye, is Danny Macaskill's The Ridge.  jane-e  check  out the fence from 6.00.  With some practice, you could be doing that. .

jane-e again, thanks for the heads up re: Wilson.  I thought I was going to have to ask Barbara.
