Spot Healing tool clones from random places in the image

I used to be able to click a link and get help from Adobe via chat. This is no longer possible for me. Can someone please tell me what is up with that?

Um, because I live in South Africa and I can't!!! Perhaps you should be less hoity and not say anything if you haven't got anything helpful to say.


The Spot Healing Brush doesn't need a source.  It takes pixels from the surrounding area on same layer. But the Healing Brush tool needs a source (Alt+click) similar to the Clone Stamp tool.

Below is a screenshot of my Spot Healing Brush tool settings.  The Mode is Replace and the Type is Content Aware-Fill.

Thank you to all who have reached out to help. There are two issues. It appears that I need to do more learning about how to use the spot healing tool for now, as it seems I do not understand how it works. I did not know that there is more than one tool. However, this is a separate issue. In the past, I have been able to get through to technical support if I have had a problem, and they either point me in the direction I need to go, or they help me resolve the issue by remotely accessing my computer. Now, however, if I try to contact them I get zero response.  So, either I am not doing it right, or the policy has changed and this service is no longer available. Do you know if they are phasing it out?

This may be of interest to Americans. In South Africa, our time zone is CAT. We do not follow your time zones because we are positioned differently on the globe and our daylight hours are very different from yours. Furthermore, our currency is worth fifteen times less than yours, meaning that it costs us fifteen times more to use the products than it does for you. I would imagine that most private users do not have open lines that can dial American telephone numbers. It is now daytime again for me.

Chat is still there and it should be operational. But also telephone support should be available locally:

Product help, however, is best given here in the fora. You have here product experts using the products on a daily basis and they can help most effectively. There are only some problems that can‘t be solved by the fora: account and payment problems are among them. Generally everything that is personal to you.

try a diffierent browser during pst business hours.

I don't know what pst  business hours are. I use Chrome and I do not wish to change to another browser.

you can retry in 2-9 hours from the time of your last post

but if that fails continuing to use the same browser will cause the same problem.
