Text does not appear

I just experienced this problem... or perhaps a related problem? It's not a corrupted file problem here unless EVERY FILE was corrupted. It's a PS problem.  I type text and it does not appear. When I try to transform it it gives me that message "Could not transform because the initial bounding rectangle is empty.." I am running adobe CC 19.1.2, the latest update. Not sure what's going on but I'm dead in the water and have deadlines to meet. It appears to be a text tool problem here.

I've tried opening other files and using the type tool... I've re-started PS, same problem. I've re-started my computer, SAME PROBLEM!!!  What's going on???

I will do other searches but your inquiry was what my initial search came up with.

    Hi Jason,

The most likely causes for text not appearing are:

    • The text layer is behind another layer. Try deselecting layers in the Selection menu so that your Type layer is on top.
    • The text is the same color as the background or is too small to see. Reset your Type tool (or all tools) or check the size, typeface, and color in the Options bar. Be sure to click the check in the Options bar to commit your text.

When you get the error message that the layer is empty, look at your layers panel. What layer are you on?

Show screen shots if you need more help.

The text layer was the only one selected and the text being the same color as the background or too small was definitely not part of the problem. I was on that text layer.

Note: The text layer showed the name of the layer as the text typed but the text was not visible on the canvas.

After re-installing PS everything is back to normal.

Branched from a thread from 2013. This is a different issue.
