How can I create a Text 'Long Drop Shadow' without having to duplicate layers. I know there is a way of selecting the text with the 'Selection Tool' then pasting it in to another layer, and then just pressing UP and DOWN on the keyboard. But I've forgotten how to do this process, which as much faster and more accurate.

It's better idea tu use 3D effect

Select layer with text and go to 3D menu and then select Make 3D extrustion from Selected Layerben.jpg

You can also do it in Illustrator. in this case your graphic would be Vector.

Maybe it's better idea?

I've tried Illustrator (might try it again) but it doesn't go the exact length and angle I want.

Good idea, but 3D won't give it the exact style and effect I want.

Hi

You should be able to get the style you want in 3D with the following settings:

1. Set camera to Orthographic

2. In the mesh settings set to shear and set a horizontal and vertical angle

3. set bevel material to black and extrusion material to blue

4. In Scene set render surface style to "Unlit Texture"

When I transfer my text to 3D, do I transfer it as '3D Postcard', '3D Extrusion' or 'Mesh from Depth Map'. As the colour and outlines on the text don't appear when I transfer to 3D as '3D Extrusion' and I can't seem to extrude text when using '3D Postcard'.

Hi

I used 3D extrusion.

The main color will be transferred. You then add the black "bevel" color and blue extrusion colour to the 3D materials

I should have added you will also need to adjust the bevel width - which will control the thickness of the black line.

Ben, there is a forum rule that says when we get questions like this, I have to show you a tiny part of what Alien Skin Eye Candy 7 can do.  I rather like the marble look personally.
