Text Tool not working

As I select the text tool and then click on the canvas an error pops-up saying "Selected font failed, during last operation. If problem persists, please disable the font." I'm using times new roman...

Try resetting the tool and/or the preferences:

reset tools

If Bob's suggestion didn't help, we need to know what version of Photoshop, and what operating system you are using?

Stupid question but important. Does this happen with any font?
And yes as Trevor said, can you provide version of Photoshop and operating system please?
