TIF saved with LZW compression are bigger than standard

Hello, I just discovered that if I save 16bit pictures in TIF with LZW compression I obtain files bigger than standard TIF without compression.

It seems strange, is there any reason for this behaviour?

With previous versions of Photoshop I had always saved 16bit TIFs in this way, but now I see that it is useless, indeed the "compressed" files take up more space.

Your observation is entirely correct 🙂

LZW compression was developed for 8 bit data and doen't work well with 16 bit. Often the file just gets bigger.
