I have tried to open TIF files in Photoshop. i've already install the 2018 version, but still doesn't work.
An error message appears that says: could not be fulfilled because it is not the correct document type
Are the tif files really tif files or could they have been misnamed?
Could you provide one for testing?

Would help us to know what system you are on. If the file extension is wrong as Herr Pfaffenbichler mentioned, try this:
Do a command I on the file
remove the last letter and the 3 dot filename extension, and if the filetype changes, then you know what if actually should be, as this is pulled from the files resource fork rather than filename now.
if you still have trouble please confirm if this happens for all files, anything similar about the files such as coming from a client or old server. Does this happen to a new file you create and save as tif and try to reopen?

Hello All - I have the most current CC Photoshop Version 23.41.
Yesterday I was moved onto a new PC laptop for work and suddenly cannot open .tif files. Photoshop simply freezes entirely and I have to open task manager to end task each time I try. I have tried reverting to an older version of Photoshop, however this does not work either.
I tried the below fix to see if it could work; removing the .tif from the naming convention, and no luck here either. I'm at a loss - any help?
Thank you!
