Hi. My toolbar icons have disapeared. If I go into the tools group the other tools icon are there, just not the default ones. I have uninstalled photoshop and reinstalled it but there still are not there.

Any help would be awesome!

Is this the full release or beta version Daniel?  I have had icons disappear from panels in the beta version (I think) three times now.  The firsat two times I reset Preferences, which is annoying, so the third time it happened I tried restarting, and that fixed it.

Otherwise, do you definitely have tools in the unused right side of that panel?

Have you tried dragging tools to the right side?

Have you tried restarting Photoshop?

Try Deactivate Native Canvas in Preferences > Technology Previews and restarting Photoshop

Try resetting Preferences.

Its the full release.

I tried all that apart from resetting preferences and it didn't fix it.

How do I reset the preferences?

Do you use a custom workspace?

If yes, select the Essentials workspace, and then Reset the Essentials workspace.

If you are already uusing the Essentials workspace, just reset it.

I asked back up the thread if you could drag icons to the unused side of the toolbar?  Can you check that again if not already?  It's just that the default is for ALL TOOLS to be in the toolbar and the unused right side will be empty.

Are you sure that is not what you are seeing?

image.png

Providing your Photoshop is up to date, (go Help > About Photoshop and you should see 24.6.0) the most recent tool to be added is the Remove Tool.  Do you have that in your Toolbar?

If yes, what tools are missing?

Hi Trevor.
I Reset the Essentials workspace, restored defualts on the toolbar and I am running 24.6.0 but the icons are still missing for first tool in every group. I can still use the tool but I have to remember which ones are which. If I change to another tool in a group that Icon works, but when I change it back to the defuat tool in th egroup its still not there.
Is there a library somewhere that stores the tool icons that I can replace?

I have this exact issue too. reloading photoshop used to work, but it gets worse day by day. Also the image presets are all gone.

I'm sorry, but I don't seem to have any better handle on this than anyone else.  I feel for you, because while it is still touch and go whether I have any icons in my Adjustments panel, I prefer that to your situation. I have swapped the Image Adjustments shortcuts to Adjustment Layers, so I just have to remember what they are to access them.

image.png

I can also access them from the drop down menu in the Adjustments panel

Unfortunately, your situation is way worse, but you can still use shortcuts.  It's a good idea to remove the shortcut from seldom used tools. e.g. I know I will always get the brush tool when I hit B.  I also turn off using the Shift key to toggle shortcut groups, because I can't think of any reason I should need to use two keys when one will do.

In my case, I have tried with and without Native Canvas activated, but it seems to be pot luck whether I am going to see those Icons, and probably only one time in ten that they are there.

I am uise Windows 11, and have had this issue with the last two updates.
