Trouble importing images other than pngs

Hi,

I just updated my PS to 2015.5 and whenever I go to create a new project I can no longer open up any files except pngs. The error "could not complete your request because the file was not found" always comes up. How can I open up jpgs or other types of files, other than pngs?

What computer and OS are you running?

I've looked back at other posts about similar issues and in each one the solution was to update the Camera Raw instance:
