trying to save an animated webp

New Here ,
Nov 02, 2020 Nov 02, 2020

I used this plug-in: https://github.com/webmproject/WebPShop

I can't figure out how to get it to save as an animated webp. You have to use "save as...", make each layer one frame of the animation, title each layer "123 ms", and rasterize each layer. Then it's supposed to give you options for "animated webp" instead of just "webp" after using "save as...". I can't get it to work.

Edit: I found this warning when trying to sav as webp "the current file format must be saved as a copy because it will not save all the document layers"

According to CanIUse, browser support is still only 85%.

I'm reluctant to implement new file types on the web until I'm sure 95% of users can see them which typically means waiting until old browsers die off.

Support is now 100% with Safari and Chrome in full alignment. The best reason to support webp is not only because your art will shine brigher, but it is better for the environment over the gold GIF.

Yup.  This topic is 3 years old. I use WebP whenever I can now.

But I'm not sure how it impacts the environment.  🤔
