Two monitor operation with Mac Studio and screen layout configuration is lost periodically

I have a strange problem with my new Mac Studio when using Photoshop.  My configuration is with 2 monitors, a Studio Display and an old 23.5" Cinema Display.

I set up so that the image is on the Studio Display and all my other contolling windows  (like layers, history, etc) are on the Cinema Display.  Everything works fine for the most time, but periodically, when I bring the computer out of sleep mode, the contol windows have all been moved back to the Studio Display, over top of my image.  I move them back and everything seems fine, but when the computer is allowed to go to sleep due to inactivity and then I start up again, the strange window layout comes back again.

My Cinema Display is connected via an HDMI to DVI converter.

Just a few weeks ago I was still using my old iMac (late 2015) and everything worked fine and, this new glitch didn't happen.  

I have a suspicion it has something to do with the logic in the Cinema Display and Photoshop thinks that it isn't there anymore after a sleep, so moves the control windows back to my Studio Display.

I realise that not many people will be using an old Cinema Display, but I thought I would post the question anyway.

As an added note I should state that BRIDGE gets reaarranged at the same time.

 

No other software is offering a problem such as this.

I believe your instinct is correct. For some reason, when you allow your system to sleep, it thinks your Cinema Display is turning off. Sometimes, correcting this is trying a different connector cable - or connecting to a different port. I think your Cinema Display only has the one DVI port, but maybe try a different cable. 
Another thing I'd try is turning the Cinema Display off and on BEFORE waking from sleep.

I've just recently finished a rather extensive bit of work with Apple engineering on this challenge.  I ended up creating a movie so they see it happening, then they sent me, via an adivsory, a request to create several situations and then run a data gathering tool for them.  Those files were huge.  I sent it all back to them and they have basically come up with the same answer as both you and I have.  I did try a different cable configuration, but the problem remained.  Their final conclusion was to shut down Photoshop each time a use it when it is possible that a SLEEP MODE may be encountered.  It isn't that difficult, so, as long as I know what is going on I can live with it.

 

I'm quite sure it is the speed of response of the Cinema Display, because there was no such problem with my iMac, which does not have the 'lightning speed' of the Mac Studio.  I think the Mac Studio just beats the Cinema Display when starting and thinks it only has one screen.

 

I've looked at a Cinema Display torn down and am amazed at all the stuff 'under the covers' so to speak.  Of course it has to be slower.

 

Thankfully, LG makes a monitor that Mac users are very happy with.  Its interface with the Mac is just the normal Thunderbolt 4 connection via USB-C connector.  Unfortunately, it costs $900 here in Canada.  Still when the Cinema Display finally dies or when I'm flush with $900, I'll have an option.
