Type Tool is Freezing and Crashing Photoshop 2024

I am on a MacBook Pro 2021 with 32 GB of RAM. I am using PS 2024 -- All my files were working fine, then all of a sudden I cannot use the text tool without it freezing and hanging PS. Sometimes it seems to work, but when it does it is SUPER slow. All I am trying to do is create a text layer of two words, then change it's color. I have updated my OS to Sonoma 14.6.1, then I uninstalled and reinstalled PS...I am using version 25.12. This is happening on a 200mb file with no layers except one text layer. I have scratch disk space set up and nothing else is running on my computer. This should be no problem for PS and the computer I have.

Bascially I cannot work at all on my project. I guess I'll try an older version of PS and see if that helps...

I would love some help! Thank you!

I sort of have an update...this is pretty weird. So I downloaded PS 2023 and started having the same problems. After a lot of playing around, I noticed that I have one file made in v.2024 that doesn't totally crash when I use it in v2023 (late 2023), but it updates and renders the text VERY slowly. Again, I have a fast comupter and this is not a big file (most of the layers this are flattened). Every change I try to make to the text takes forever. Then a new file I was working with, using the text created in 2024 freezes PS completely. So I created new text layers in 2023 for this file and the text renders completely differently. I copied the type created in 2023 to the 2024 file (while in 2023 of course) and you can see here. This is the exact same typeface and renders differently. All the text made from 2024 is more bold, without using a bold font. The typefaces look so much better in 2024...I didn't even realize the lack of detail I was getting. BTW - These fonts I am using are from the Creative Cloud. So...As far as I can tell, there is something off with the way 2024 is rendering the fonts. I hope I can stay in 2023 and actually get my work done.

Oh, here is a screen shot. This typeface (on the left) is called Marker Aid, but they are all doing this. The top one is 2024, the bottom one is the exact same font created in 2023.

@shiftBKperspectives

I can only think of two more things to try:

1. Post in the Adobe Fonts forum: https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-fonts/ct-p/ct-fonts

While we can move posts, this one has gotten rather long.

2. Contact Adobe Customer Care. They can look at your computer.

Try the link to auto-open the Chat:

Type "agent"

If your browser blocks the Chat window, try the steps here:

You can also send a post through X (formerly Twitter) to @AdobeCare.

Do not reply to PMs, which are likely to be scammers.

I have a deadline now and 2023 works okay, and in 2024 sometimes creating a new file helps...so I'll have to try the other venues later. I really, really appreciate your help!

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Thanks for moving my question. As far as I could tell I did post this in the community.adobe.com. That is where I started looking for solutions, so I can't tell the difference between where you posted it and I did, but thank you. It took me a while to find a place to allow me to post, but I always thought I was always in this community -- Weird.

your post belongs in the photoshop forum.  it was in a forum about using adobe's forums.
