Dear gents
I am usig my old and very expensive Photoshop 6.0 on a W10 Pro environment. From yesterday, when starting the Photoshop I got the mensage:
"Unable to continue because an hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable"
As far as I know, any Windows update had been installed on the last week, so is not result of an update of the system
It is possible to get suport or instructions from Adobe offices?
.
So, what can I try?

The same thing happened for me on both windows 10 and 11, except i never disabled any updates.
In one of the other posts about this issue i wrote the same several months ago.

I didn't read his message until you told me.
As you know Microsoft told you "hardware or system error" and PS quit loading.
I am not happy with this kind of ambiguous message that treats you like a stupid.
I MUST SAY that ImageReady IS STILL WORKING which means they paralyze Photoshop only.
I use ImageReady to do a few simple works.
Now I TOLD you and if ADOBE people find out this SECRET, they will kill ImageReady too.
I have nothing to say and accept it as due if the hardware fails the software, but I don't take it if it is just because I don't buy a new version of Photoshop.
You can't do this to your business supporters.
I am thinking about getting a Photoshop 8.0 or Pait Shop or something similar instead.
Good luck to you.
Regards,
eric

So: you bought Photoshop 6 23 years ago, you haven't upgraded since - and you still feel you're supporting Adobe and they owe you something?
Just want to get this clear.

The year of the release of the Sega Dreamcast... Would one be mad that one needs to purchase a second hand tv in order to use the scart connector?

Hello,
Adobe has many products.
Photoshop is not the only software I bought from Adobe.
I don't use Photoshop very often like I don't use Photoshop Elements all the time.
You don't need to buy a new version of some software as long as your old version can satisfy your requirement.
I buy software for use not buy time span to use the software.
We bought a lot of software necessary or unnecessary.
Money is not easy to come by and I am not going to rent Adobe Photoshop.
As a matter of fact, MS Paint is the picture editing program I use all the time.
I am lucky because I can survive without Photoshop.
I can't afford to upgrade all software I bought many years before.
Many of you can't afford to do so as well.
I have used Elements 2021 to edit 30+ photos in the past two years.
I use three small functions only.
Do I need to buy Photoshop Elements 2023 in your philosophy?
Even though I just bought P 6 only without buying any other Adobe products, I am still one of their supporters.
You mistake the real meaning of supporter.
I never said, "they owe me something." Never!
They owe me or not owe me, they know it very well.
Once again, I take it if the hardware fails the program, but ImageReady is still working.
Good luck.
Regards,
eric

Hello,
I'd like to learn if your Photoshop 6 is working now.
My friend LongJohnSilver told me he reinstall his Photoshop 6 and it's working now.
Good luck.

I did this: In compatibility with the system set - Windows 98/ Windows Me + basic color modes - 16-bit color. Everything works!
