Unable to open Photoshop

Community Beginner ,
Nov 10, 2022 Nov 10, 2022

Hi I am unable to open Photoshop. Nothing happens when I try to open it. I have already tried the following and nothing has helped:

- End background Photoshop in task manager

- Run Photoshop as administrator

- Uninstall and reinstall both Creative Cloud and Photoshop

None of these have fixed the problem and I really need top use Photoshop. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You could try running the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove all traces of the Adobe software before reinstalling it (yet again):  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

FYI I run Windows 11 Home 64 bit and I'm trying to run Adobe Photoshop 2023 24.0.0.59; however it also wasn't running when I had Adobe Photoshop 2022 before I uninstaled it.

Try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences on quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.

(Mac OS only) Open the Preferences folder in the Library folder*, and drag the Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.

To manually delete Photoshop preferences:
Quit Photoshop.
Navigate to Photoshop's Preferences folder:
MacOS: Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
Windows 10: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

Note:
The user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS. To access files in the hidden user Library folder, see How to access hidden user library files.
https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
Drag the entire Adobe Photoshop [Version] Settings folder to the desktop or somewhere safe for a back-up of your settings

Thanks thedigitaldog. I just tried your directions to manually delete the preferences because I can't get into Photoshop at all. However, it unfortunately didn't work.

Photoshop was just working yesterday and now it suddenly isn't working anymore. 😞
