Unwanted drop shadow printing on text

Hey all, I've having issues with printing text the last few months, not just one file but many files. When they print, they have what looks like a drop shadow printing on the text, and it happens for small text or large text equally. Text in general just looks a little fuzzy and blurry.

Ive tried printing the same text just from a text document, and its much crisper and sharper.

I reset all my photoshop settings and still the same thing.

Theres no drop shadow as far as i can tell on my text. One of my affected files is attached.

The printer im using is an HP4650 but i also tried on an HP Deskjet 3633 and same thing.

It may be a function of your printer rasterizing text from Ps. Have you tried creating a pdf from your file and printing from that? Or even using Illustrator for the same thing instead of Ps? Jusat a thought - good luck.

I tried saving to pdf and it still had the issue. Just tried printing form inDesign though and it looks significantly better, so maybe its just photoshop rasterizing before printing?

Ya, if I create anything text heavy to be printed, I'll use ID or Illustrator (or unless it's going to be printed offset and original files or pdfs are used). Seems like it's working better.

This is almost certainly a bug in the software.  The shadows that appear behind black text will disappear if you remove the color cartridge before printing.  In addition if you print text that has mixed color and black characters you will probably notice that the color characters are shifted downward from the black text, and they print without any shadow.  Here is an image of your file printed from a pdf file on an HP C4680 from Adobe Reader from my Mac Pro (High Sierra) that illustrates the point.  Notice how the bottom of the shadow text lines up with the bottom of the red letters.  Hmmm.Shadow printing.jpeg

I just tried printing text, b/w and color, from Ps and don't get the drop-down effect, but Ps is still slower than slow, and the text is a bit jaggy/pixelated. I then created a pdf from it, and it printed perfectly, no jaggies.

The errors you have above are not good. Did you trying reinstalling print drivers or using another CC app besides Ps? Also, have you tried playing with the text styles/anti-aliasing drop-down (sharp, crisp, etc.) to see if that had any effect?

Frustrating indeed.
