Updated MacOS (Ventura 13.2.1) - Print settings not saving

Hello

My Mac updated this morning to Ventura 13.2.1.

I currently have the latest Photoshop version installed, 24.1.1.

I am experiencing a infuriating problem when printing. The media type reverts back to 'Platinum Paper' every single time, despite me choosing 'Lustre' and then saving as Print preset. I change to the settings I want, click save, then go back into the settings before I have even printed and they are reverted back to 'Platinum Paper'. Absolutely infuriating. I'm pretty sure even the media size settings aren't saving either.

Got my MacBook out instead to print on. This still has Ventura 13.1 installed on it, and Photoshop 24.1.1 on it, and seems to be working as it should, whereby the print settings allow me to select the media type without reverting to Photo Pro Platinum Paper. So I am guessing this must be an issue relating to the latest Ventura 13.1.2 update?

This is an OS (not Adobe) issue, many settings (in the print driver dialog) for some reason, are not sticky with Ventura. I've seen this too. Even making presets in my Epson driver doesn't always work.

Color Settings should be grayed out when using Application (Photoshop) Manages Color. Been this way for years. That too isn't always sticky which will ruin a print if not using this mode. Again, this is Apple's doing. Ventura with printing (and System Preferences) is a GUI mess.

After the Ventura upgrade, I couldn't print from photoshop either so I went online and got one solution that works, to a degree, but I always have to go back to the photoshop file to make any adjustments to color, etc. Here are some instructions from Colin Smith, at least I can get my files to print:  open the file in Photoshop. Select File > Save As > Choose Photoshop PDF from the drop-down menu next to Format > Click Save > In the Options box, uncheck Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities to reduce the file size > Click Save PDF then print the PDF.

Right, I could not print from Photoshop. I've been working in it for more
years than I care to remember so I know what I'm doing.

I haven't checked back to see if they've found and eliminated the "bug" or
whatever it was that created that problem so I'll try it again.
1. Turned off the Epson printer then restarted it to clear its memory.
2. Opened a file to print.
3. Silence.... no print.
4. On the small screen that says "Ready" (to print) I tried pressing the
down arrow on the screen hoping magic would happen. The paper came through
but was blank.

What version of Ventura are you using? I've read that others are having
this problem as well, I hope someone finds an answer soon.

Thanks,
Cherie

@CPlum Can I presume that you've removed the printer in settings/ printers & scanners and re-added it? Also that you're not selecting "Airprint" next to "use"?

You may like to re-install the printer drivers (downloaded direct from Epson) to check if that makes a difference?

Have you tried the basic Photoshop print reset:

[Simple reset: hold the space bar when you open the print window. It resets the print dialogs]

Next try this:

On MAC, reset printing system:
On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners
Press and hold the Control key as you click in the list at the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the menu that appears.
After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners preferences is empty.
Reinstall the print driver, only from the manufacturer, not Apple.

Update: This is also now happening on the MacBook. Printed absolutely fine with the desired settings first off, and now every other time it is reverting back to Platinum settings and Colour Matching is 'greyed out' too. Is this a problem with the new Photoshop update?
