Updated Photoshop Now Old CMYK Files Open as RGB

New Here ,
Jun 02, 2022 Jun 02, 2022

Hello,
I just updated Photoshop about an hour ago and now whenever I try to open my files it open them as RGB rather than CMYK as they were created and saved as.
If I try to change the file in Ps from RGB to CMYK it dulls or desaturates the color.

Is there any way for my files to open as CMYK like they should?

In Colour settings, make sure colour management policies are set to 'Preserve Embedded Profiles'

Hi Dave,

I checked and they were all set to 'Preserve Embedded Profiles' when I opened the color management policies.

I wonder if your document is actually saved in CMYK or RGB then. Can you attach an example (or a link to it) and I'll check.

Files don't change color mode all by themselves. That's not possible.

What is the embedded RGB profile now, and what is the CMYK profile you use? Check here:

Hi

why not upload one of those "old CMYK" files so we can check it for you?

I hope this helps
