I encountered this dialoge once a few days ago and now the generating doesn't work anymore. It just shows the loading bar and once it's full it just disappears and nothing happens. I tried updating photoshop but still encountering the same issues. Any ideas what could be the reason?

Hi @Deleted User and @möbel-anonymous, it's hard to know why Generative Fill isn't working for you without more information. I'm using the 25.0.1 release on Windows 10 without any problems. Can you give us your system details? Also, please try with a very simple prompt. Here is a photo for you to test (it's a public domain image). If possible, post screenshots of what happens when you try my prompt with this image. Open the image, then look under the top Window menu, near the bottom of the list, and make sure Contextual Task Bar is checked. If you don't see it, try switching to another Workspace.

Got the same error trying to generate a "ww2 gasmask cyberpunk" on a cyberpunk fox creature. The prompt "scifi gas mask" worked, however.
Again, the same error trying to add a "railgun" to a concept art starship, and any variations including "scifi rail gun" etc doesn't work. If this is the less restrictive version, I think Adobe still has a long way to go.
That aside, if Adobe is going to start policing the work that is acceptable to generate, why not fully commit and prevent people from editing photos of guns? or nudes? As I understand it, the technology is already there, as you (rightly so) don't allow people to edit US currency in an attempt to prevent counterfeit bills from being created. Pick a side and stick to it so the market can decide which products they'll use.

Yesterday I was expanding the background of a couple (two adult financial advisors). They are married. The photo is for their web page and they are standing close to each other (side by side). The husband clearly has his hand around his wife's back/waist. The photo was cropped (when I received it) just above the belt line. My prompt was something like, Man with right hand around woman's waist with left hand hanging straight. I was getting flagged as inappropriate. Seriously? I get the legal issues and the fact that other countries can't even show a woman's face but I'm beginning to question the value of the GF option as being usable for these types of images. Maybe Adobe can create different functionality based on the country the app is licensed in. Not sure what the answer is but I'm wasting too much time trying to "guess" what to write to achieve my desired results. I went back to building it myself the way we've always delt with these photographic issues.

I'm still getting violations all the time and it's absolutely infuriating! I'm a glamour/boudouir photographer so my photos generally do feature scantily clad females. However the violations I'm encountering are when trying to extend backgrounds - this really needs to be exempted! Your algorithm is already able to distunguish between subject and background so surely it's a simple fix to ignore the subject when there's a violation and just work with the background. I was actually using a workaround to do this myself until recently by flattening everything to a new layer, deleting the subject and using the generative AI to extend the subject-less background but it seems now that this loophole has been closed and the AI is aware of the offending subject even when it's in a hidden layer as I'm now getting violations when I try to do this.
As others have asked what exactly is Adode's policy here? What is going to be next? Will I be prevented from using spot healing and other tools if the subject of my photo doesn't meet Adobe's puritanical moral standards? I might also add that the photos I'm working on do not in general feature completely nude subjects - models are wearing lingerie or swimwear and the photos are acceptable for publication on Instagram etc.
Overall this makes me a very unhappy Adobe customer! I tolerate community guidelines on Instagram etc as it is a public platform that can be viewed by minors but Adobe has crossed a line here that I really never imagined possible!
Generative AI has the potential to be incredibly useful for changing the aspect ratio of photos but as it stands it does not work reliably for me because of these stupid violations. A tool which work sometimes but cannot be relied upon to work every time really isn't that useful!
Every time you release a new beta version I update in the hope that this issue will be resolved but still it persists! I don't agree with Adobe imposing moral guidelines on creators but if you must do it at least do it properly. When I'm not attempting to generate anything but harmless background content surely it is a simple fix to ignore the offending subject and just use the background.

Similar here. I'm trying to extend backgrounds on images which have lightly clothed models and ocasionally to fix a too-tight frame of the model - adding a tip of a foot etc. I don't really know what what the definition of 'explicit' is that Adobe uses either. Can someone explain?

Honestly it's offensive that Adobe is policing what we can or can not edit. I do not edit anything pornographic or whatever, I sell cars, not really my wheelhouse but what if that's someone's job??? Why can't they do their literal job with AI tools??? It's legitimately so ridiculous there even are guidelines as to what we're permitted to use this for when we pay tons of money to use the software.
Unless it's illegal it should 1000000% be fair game.

I am unable to generate anything as every prompt returns that it violates community guidlines. Prompts such as:
wall
blurred background with bokeh
room in shadow
If I start with a blank area and use prompts it works fine, attempting to do so within an already existing image always returns the violation box, Example, a person sitting by an open window, wearing pants and a tank top, the background behind them can not be changed at all because walls and doors and anything and everything violates community guidlines. I've gotten tired of Adobe and this broken mess. I believe it is time for a class action lawsuit, because Adobe is now costing many people time and money, and you should not release a feature that is so broken. Every update to photoshop as a whole breaks generative a.i. I have tried every thing to correct this problem and have come to the conclusion that your team does not know what they are doing and I have no faith in your ability to fix problems, countless artists have complained and Adobe does not listen. You should stick with what you are good at and get rid of a.i features because they do not work.

Christopher, would you care to share a prompt and what it is you're expecting to get? Have you considered generating the background as a separate plate and then generate the person you need sitting on the window with a blank background? From there you can use the "Remove Background" feature in Photoshop and comp the two image together. I'm working on some children's book illustrations and often need to come up with creative ways to use the tools in a "workaround" fashion to get what I want.
Rarely (but often enough) I don't get what I'm looking for on thefirst render. Like modeling clay, you need to massage the prompt to get the results you're after. As I learn what gives me the results I'm after, I keep a prompt data base with the prompt and the image so I can repeat the results in the future.
IMO, if the software isn't working for you you don't sue the company, you just don't use the product.

I'd like to preface this by saying I am a gay man, and not some weird straight guy trying to generate something nefarious.
I am an artistic gymnastics content creator and streamer, and I design leotards...
This error has been the bane of my existence. It's made this feature almost impossible to use. Please fix it.

I've written about this before (as most of us have). The ability to generate a character, save it under a specific title and then have consistency across frames. Very useful for storyboarding and book illustration.
My daughter wrote a children's book and asked me to do the illustrations. I had to tell her that GenImage wasn't up to the task due to it's inability to do this (yet I hope). Her response was, she likes the imagery and because the topic in the story covers kids from all ethnicities, having matching characters from frame to frame would not be a show stopper.
So I'm moving along nicely and I use a prompt that says something to the effect. Diverse collection of 3D Cartoon Characters in an elementary school playground, running, swinging, talking and sliding. There's more but my point is, all i'm getting in the results are Caucasian and Afro American looking kids, no Middle Eastern or Asian looking kids. I did get a great image of Happy Kids running directly toward the camera but none of the requested activities were honored as well as the lack of diversity.
My thinking was, generate an image with the same general prompt but enforce Asian kids and then Photoshop them into my previous image. This is the prompt: Asian 3D cartoon characters of an Asian elementary school yard full of many Asian children playing playing and running around in all directions. The children have Asian facial features, perfect Asian eyes and are highly detailed with perfect physical features typical of Asian children.
I got three different images and not one of them had a child that looks Asian. Come on Adobe. there are diverse people on our planet and it's not offending anyone to request diversity in the illustrations of a children's book.
Attached are the images Generated from the above Prompt.

This is so ridiculous
I am a portrait photographer but also do fine art nude and near nude photography, everytime I go to gen fill something it's gives me this stupid error, nude painting and photography have been a thing since day one of art, pay for a software they police even though it's for clients and it's something I could do with more steps in Photoshop so I can't understand why the AI cannot do this for us like I'm not even touching an area near them nude model and I still get this stupid error, don't be needs to stop policing photographers yes there are always going to be a minority that do the wrong thing but there are more of us artists that are doing the right thing that are just trying to make the best artwork possible for ourselves or for our clients, Adobe should have a filter where we can Blur the n!pple or the v@gina or the peni$ then let us do our edits with gen fill around the areas where we need the edits or even better Adobe should unrestrict proven photographers that are within this niche I'd give Adobe my passport on my driver's license as ID towards my unrestricted gen fill, something needs to be done here I don't know what it is but something needs to be done because we could edit the same image in Photoshop just it takes longer but now AI as a new feature coming out should be celebrated and it seems that politics or religion is getting in the way of this,
Even now I go to post a response to Adobe and I can't even say peni$ or v@gina this is a descriptive of a human body part that every surgeon learns every school teaches like come on what are we doing here Adobe censorship of words that are actually descriptive in a response to you it's not swearing it's not a bad word at all it's a descriptive

I realise this is in beta testing but I think it's unprofessionally handled. I'm using the feature to expand frames of photos I've taken - not even using a prompt - which would work fine but for the censor subroutine. It would be better in this situation if it only checked the generated material.

Less overly sensative? I found them to be more sensative. I've been trying to add lighting bolts to an image. I get the 'violated guidelines' every single time I try. It's come to the point that literally anything I try 'violates' guidlines. What exactly can I generate that will work?
Today I've been trying to add lightning to an image. Even this violated guidelines. I'm at a loss. If it nothing works. Why have iit at all?

It amazes me that I encounter issues working on images for powerpoints... I work in military simulation, and I need photoshop to allow me to make images of soldiers and weapons - this inability to show weapons is insanity and I can't see any logical reason for it. These kiddie guardrails are pretty ridiculous, we aren't 10 year olds making girly pics. You can post [abuse removed by moderator] art on facebook without violating their terms and polices, you can post consensual acts on X. The fact that the highest end artist tools want to censor content (including content created by Michelangelo) that you could see in a PG rated movie is pretty insane to me.
