Hello all. i have cs6, and i was trying to do the vertical text but it just rotates it!  ima pretty sure i clicked the vertical text tool too! i did the fixes i found:

-Changing the preference>text>east asian>reset cs6

-Window>character>standard vertical roman alignment + reset character

-Reset tool

Still nothing! im getting pretty frustrated.

i tried it on my old cs4 i have the same exact problem.

at least on my cs4 i found that i cant cant change it my cuz my type preference(middle east) is pretty much fixed. (ie.dont have the east asian option).

i hope someone has another way of fixing this thank you in advance.

Hello again gene! i got the issue resolved(hehe)! So it turns out that i was opening/using an old psd file from a fixed type preference language photoshop. Apparently the old Photoshop settings(preferences?) that was used for that psd file got transferred over to my cs6, hence i cannot change it for that particular file only. i tried using it on a new file but my vertical text works there just fine. :))

Maybe this might help: https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/vertical-text-sideways-not-up-down-please-hel...

You do need to use the Vertical Text Tool if you never tried it.

Also right-click on the vertical text tool here to reset it.

Sorry, I see you did try what was already suggested. This is happening with all fonts?

If you have not already, restart your computer.

Check to see you have the latest updates to CS6:

I would look at a reinstall, but hope it doesn't get to that.

I own a Macbook so all I can give is advice I've looked at. I'll leave this open for Windows users for better ideas.

LATEST

I remember having problems with a PSD created in the Japanese versionof Photoshop. My CC membership allowed me to install the Japanese version of CC 2019 and when I opened it there, the file was back to normal.

Glad to hear that you got it sorted out.
