I'm trying to create a 'speedpaint' video. I've brought several clips (.mp4) into Photoshop CC, lined them up and trimmed them. They were filmed in real time at 1080p and 25 fps. Every resource I can find online makes it sound as simple as right-clicking on the clip, which should then give a dialogue box that provides options for speed and duration. However, when I right click on the clips (or left click for that matter), all I get is a box called 'motion,' with no option to change the speed of the clips.
I haven't found anything about this being the case, but I'm wondering whether converting the clips into Smart Objects is causing this issue. Due to the way my camera is currently set up, the videos were filmed upside down and I had to convert the clips to Smart Objects to allow for them to be turned up the right way using the move tool.
Any guidance is appreciated!
Emma
If you double click on the Smart Object, it will open the content as PSB, which contains the original video layer (that you can change the duration/speed.)

Right-clicking the layer in the Timeline will give you the duration/speed control:

Thank you for your reply,
however as I advised, this doesn't happen when I right click on the clip, I just get a box that says 'motion.' On further research, it appears that the conversion to a Smart Object does cause the clip to no longer be seen as a video file, hence it doesn't give the speed functions. Looks like I have to start again and adjust everything else before I convert to smart object. to rotate the image.
Thank you again for taking the time to respond.

Must this be done prior to making it a smart object? Is the duratio/speed fixed afterward converting to a smart object?
Thank you in advance.

Yes, I think you can only change the speed of a video layer, not a smart object.

Are there any elements that remain editable in a rendered video such as duration/speed?
Thanks again

You can import the rendered video back into Photoshop and change the speed but that's a bit silly... Can you edit the original or use a video editing software instead?

Thanks you once again,
i am new to video but I think am starting to get it . I am thinking work flow really, like raw files I want to do what I can to the MOV, I have made colour corrections for my camera and each lens in Camera Raw, I found they are available to a j-peg (made with "Capture Frame" in Lightroom) in the develop module. You can then sync. more adjustments to the video than are available directly to video. My video is crooked so it had to become a smart object at some point to staighten it, I now need to determine all that should be done as a smart object (Things that can only be done as a smart object) and then convert a copy back to an ordinary layer. Once it has been converted back to a normal layer, will become an editable video layer again while still in PS?

Got it. Double clicking Smart Object in Layers Pallet opens psb.>alter speed>save & close psb. psd Layers>Smart Objects> Update All Modified Content and save, speed is now changed in the Smart Object!
Thank you

Hi Kenneht,
I've uploaded the video seperatly as a videogroup
Is there a second way to change the speed? I'm working in the videolayer of the videogroup and nothing changes. It keeps the speed @ 100%. Audio is no problem to change apparently.
Thanks for the info

Sorry I don't know any other way to change the speed. Can you use a video editing software instead?
