wallet sized photos

im simply trying to resize images to print wallet photos. after attempting all day, I finally came around to 2.5 x 3.5 inches as the size. however, when I picked up the test prints at walmart the quality seemed a little off. if wasn't completely blurry, but I feel like maybe some resolution was lost. can someone give me the exact steps...or numbers to plug in to resize to a wallet photo without loosing any resolution, like the size and resolution. unless theres another way? I currently have it as, 2.5 inches for width, 3.5 inches for height, and the resolution is set at 1050. when I got the prints..the size seemed fine, as the entire image was there without anything being cropped out. help please!

    Hi

It sounds like your photo's may be getting resized to a lower resolution before printing, which depending on what process is being used may be softening them.

I checked this site Best photo resolutions for use in WALMART PHOTOCENTRE and their "Highest Quality" setting recommends 300 ppi. So with that in mind I would try:

    a. Resampling to 300 ppi yourself - so you can choose the best algorithm.

    b. Sharpening for print following that resample. Sharpening for print may look slightly oversharpened at 100% on screen (unless you have a 300 ppi screen)  but should look OK when printed
