What are the symbols in thelower right hand corner of layer thumbnails

Specifically this one but it would be nice if somewhere in the world Adobe would publish a list of these various symbols and what they mean.

I couldn't find a list to hand so I added a few layers to an empty document and labelled them :

Dude I wish there was a way that I could express my appreciation and gratefulness to you for this has been a problem for me ever since I started school. And it's been a persistent problem since I've graduated. Seriously this means a lot. And it boggles my mind that Adobe doesn't have resources for understanding these things. Especially when the icons they use don't resemble anything intuitive. I really do wish there was a way for me to show you my gratitude. Thank you. One last thing how do I change those layers to a different function?

You're welcome.

If you right click on those layers (to the right of the layer name and not on the icons), in the layers panel, you will see options to convert or rasterize them.
