what are these markers on the screen?

what are these markers on the screen?  they become visible when i select the brush tool

They are markers made by the Color Sampler tool. (It's nested with the Eyedropper.) Open the file with the markers, choose the Color Sampler tool and, in the Options bar choose Clear All.
