What influence does "SwitchBoard" have on Photoshop CS5?

Hi,

SwitchBoard 2.0 is a server process that facilitates communication between Bridge CS5 and the MiniBridge panel in Photoshop CS5 or InDesign CS5. The (Not Responding) indication in Activity Monitor happens because the server process is dormant until a SwitchBoard client (MiniBridge (Ps/ID), or Br ) asks for something. The process will only launch when the MiniBridge panel is opened and browsed to a location, or when Bridge launches. It should also shut down/time out when all the clients have quit.

Most definitely. Thanks! I might mention that I opened Mini Bridge and navigated to an image which previewed in Mini Bridge. As I did this, I kept an eye on the Activity Manager and the "Not Responding" state remained.
