Hi there! Sometimes, a big cross appears in the middle of the picture...does anyone knows what it is and what is it for?
It is the Rotate View tool .
Get to it by hitting the R key or clicking here in the toolbar (it shares a space with the hand tool)

Thank you guys! It's been a year working hundreds of passionate hours with PS CC and I never seen this before. Now I know!

If it is appearing randomly, then I wonder if the OP is using a tablet like the Surface Pro or Cintiq Companion, and Rotate is being triggered by gestures. If it was interrupting workflow, it can be turned off in Preferences.

Thanks for the advice. Very useful! But what rotation is used for anyways?

Use it to rotate the whole canvas.
So when painting brush strokes with a pen & tablet for example, you can keep your hand at the same comfortable angle but rotate the canvas, the same as you might rotate the paper whilst drawing

Is there a way to turn off the canvas rotation, and still be able to use other gestures?
