When duplicating a group, it moves the copy somewhere else

Hello,

I have this problem with the latest Photoshop (v20) Mac: when duplicating a group of layers (Cmd+J) in a comp with multiple artboards, the copy gets moved to some other artboard or outside any artboard. The position is random, looks like. Anyone have the same problem?

Thanks!

It's a bug. The newly duplicated layer is being moved to coordinates relative to the hidden canvas, not the destination artboard. Several duplication methods are affected:

  • Layer Panel dragging a layer cell to the new layer icon at the bottom of the Layer Panel
  • Duplicate Layers dialog
  • Cmd-J when more than one layer (including layer groups) is being duplicated.

A fix is in the pipeline.

In the meantime, please use alternate duplication methods, such as on-canvas option-drag, or Layer Panel option-drag.

It doesn't do that with a single layer though... It behaves normally, the copy is placed on the same spot above the original layer.
