I'm currently editing a still life image, which consists of mixed paint on a flat surface.
Oil is being poured inside amongst the colours to the right of the image.
I have been asked to remove the oil. This is where I am stuck.
How do I remove the oil completely from the image and make it blend in?
I am finding it to be difficult as the (obviously) oil is see-through, so I am damaging parts of the image behind.
I have used the patch tool and the clone stamp tool but I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere.
I'm a little stuck so any feed back would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance.

Without seeing your artwork nobody can really tell you much in the way of specific advise. Dealing with transparency most definitely will involve some elaborate work with layer masks and blending modes.

Hey guys apologies for the slow reply. Heres a screenshot of the image.
As you can see, to the right of the image there is oil flowing downwards into the paint. This oil is what I intend to get rid of.
Thank you in advance for your answers, much appreciated!

I suppose masked Adjustment Layers could be used to alleviate the shadow the stream of oil causes on the surface but removing the stream itself might also necessitate a lot of plain painting because the refractions and reflections occlude the surface too much.

Please post the image in question (or at least an exemplary snippet).

Hello c.p,
For some reason this notification didn't pop into my inbox so I have only seen it now.
However, thank you very much.
