You do not need 300 ppi. That's for books and magazines to be held at less than arm's length.

It depends entirely on viewing distance. The farther away, the lower the required ppi. These are perfectly equivalent, with the same optical resolution:

Depending on the size and viewing distance, probably between 100 and 50 PPI.

Hi

+1 you absolutely do not need 300ppi.

A quick formula to give a workable ppi :           ppi = 1/(viewing distance x .000146)            where viewing distance is in inches.
And for the viewing distance use 1.5 x print diagonal in inches.

That will give the ppi that can be seen - anything above that is wasted - our eyes just cannot resolve it.

The question is more what is the minimum resolution required for printing banner/large hordings?

Did yous ask the print provider?

Often the Layout is in a smaller ratio and not 1:1. So 300ppi in 100% gives you maybe 150 on the final Banner print, and looks great on the wall.
