Why are open documents hidden and need to go to window menu to see? [OSX]

This is a new behavior I have never seen before in Photoshop, Everything lastest CC 2018 version, OS, everything updated to newest always...

I open documents and they all appear in the window, that is normal. Then, when I switch to another app, like Safari or any other app and return to Photoshop, all of the open documents are hidden. Oh, they are open and going to the Window menu I can select them, one at a time only to bring them back to the photoshop work area where I can see them. What on earth could be causing this behavior? How can I get Photoshop to return to its normal behavior of displaying documents that are open?

See screen shot with 25 documents open, nothing can be seen...

TIA for help with this...,

Ken

Hi Ken,

We're sorry to hear about this unexpected behavior of Photoshop, would suggest you to back up your custom presets, actions, brushes and work-space, then try performing factory reset of Photoshop by restoring the preferences.

Please let us know if the issue persists even after resetting the preferences: Preferences in Photoshop

Regards,

Sahil

Trashing Preferences fixed the problem, but mindful that there are other replies here that also are helpful and on track to fixing this problem - I just had to choose one and, while the most extreme, sometimes that is the best. I have a fresh new working Photoshop now.

Thank You,

Ken

Thank You Kukurykus, as you may have read, I jumped at trashing the preferences and that fixed the problem but you offered a viable path to solution also... You guys are what makes Adobe Products GREAT! ... yes they all work, but not so well without YOU!

Your panels are all floating, turn on your application frame:

Holy Cow, I don't know which but feel 'ALL' should be marked as the correct answer as I just took the first post and flying leap, trashed the preferences... that fixed it but will need to mould Photoshop back into it's working shape I have been modeling for years it seems... no matter, working with hidden files is not my idea of working... and now is fixed... wish I would have read the rest of these first as 'Application Frame' I will never know now if that somehow got unchecked... Whew, what a great community of EXPERTS here. Thank You to each of you and you all deserve a hardy 'CORRECT ANSWER' for your help,
