Question

why is Photoshop adding "copy" to file name again?

Version 24.1.1

I'm working on a set of actions. In previous versions, this working fine. Photoshop did not add copy to the file name as I had the legay save as turned on as well as don't add copy to the filename. I have these two options turned on but Photoshop is still adding copy when I save a PNG or a JPG out of a PSD file.

This is causing issues with my actions as it can't find the file name because copy has been added to it.

Is this a bug or is there a work around (the don't add copy to the filename under preferences is obviously not working)?

The only way it won't add copy to the file name is if I change the filename. So that's a temporary solution for me for now. Just have to rerecord that part of the actions.

Yes, to use legeacy save as. And yes, I rerecorded the action.

This worked in the previous version. Just had to record new actions since I replaced a drive that has a different letter. And now it keeps adding copy on certain files.

Save as copy is greyed art but checked when I go to save the PNG. Here's a video:

Double checking - youve gone to preferences/File Handling and check "Use Legacy Save As".

That should also take care of the other option to "Append copy to filename"

In your action - did you re-record your save action after you changed the preference?
