Hi everybody,

I have an iMac 2017 that updates up to Ventura 13.7.5 and today I receivdd a message from photoshop that tells me that it's recommended to update up to 14.6.1 or higher. How long do you think I can use my iMac before I have to get a new one? Thanks in advance

Yes, I meant 2026, you'll get updates until the release of the new version, Adobe generally release new versions in October, so Photoshop 2025 will be updated until then, you can still use 2025 beyond that period without issue, some people have versions going back to 2017, which they can still use.

Ventura will be supported by Apple until this fall, which means no security updates after the next OS release.. I'd be looking now at replacing that computer, which is classified as "vintage" at this point.

@cristiano_8203  macOS v12*, v13, v14, v15 are currently supported, v12 might be removed as a supported OS in the next release of Photoshop, it's impossible to say what OS versions Adobe will support going forward though.

Thanks for the reply.

with photoshop release you mean next update or big release as in photoshop 2026?

Cause I'd like to know whether I need to do some heavy replacements on my mac lab and when.

Also another question: will photoshop just stop updating and work with the latest compatible update or will it stop working altogether? Cause it would be a big problem then.

Thanks in advance for the help!

ok that's really comforting. So that means I won't end up with a bunch of programs that won't even open cause they will work anyway with the latest compatible update, just without new features? Cause unfortunately I'm working in an environment where I can't change computers pronto and I need to know what window of time I can have before I have to buy new ones cause the programs are just unplayable.

Thanks for the patience but i'm kind of tense right now

Don't worry about it, you'll be fine, version 2025 will be available in the Creative Cloud until the release of version 2027, after that just make sure not to uninstall version 2025
