Zoom behavior buggy using Magic Trackpad (Photoshop & Camera Raw)

I've always used a Magic Trackpad in addition to a mouse (mouse on the right, trackpad on the left), and mostly for the the ability to easily zoom in and out pinching on the trackpad, while I'm editing/painting with the mouse. Recently Photoshop (and Camera Raw) started behaving weirdly. The pinch gesture normally zooms in towards where the cursor is, but now it's all arbitrary. Sometimes it zooms to the center of the image, sometimes just a random point. This makes Photoshop very unusable with a Magic Trackpad.

Anybody else having this issue? I'm on the most recent version of MacOS and Photoshop.

Hi, sorry about that

I don’t have a solution, but maybe if you try to reset the preferences will work, here are the instructions:

same problems here.

zoom is working fine in PS but bad in camera raw and working with CR2 files that's quite a big problem.

I've reset preferences, reinstalled, and even rolled back to older versions of Photoshop. Nothing changed. Seems like photoshop and camera raw are no longer compatible with MacOS's trackpad gestures. Again, Illustrator is totally fine.

I'm surprised that nobody else is talking about this. Trackpads are crucial for photo editing. At this point, my Magic Trackpad is practically useless.

I hope Adobe looks into this incompatibility soon, because I don't want to roll back to an old OS. It affects too much for me.

But at least you've cleared up where the problem originates. Thanks very much for you answer!

LATEST

As of today, with Camera Raw 14.2.0.1028 on macOS 12.2.1, zooming and panning is still completely broken. This is frankly insane. A large part of creative professionnals use MacBooks and Mac computers, yet Adobe fails to support that hardware properly. This is making me seriously consider switching to another alternative. This is not a minor issue, this is a workflow-breaking problem. Adobe, please address this.
