Add a tiny info panel for the Eyedropper tool

I suggest adding a tiny info panel for the Eyedropper tool (so that we don't need to open the main Info panel and look across the entire monitor back and forth). Would be very handy.

Here's how users are checking the values now without the feature.

I'd recommend double-clicking on the Foreground Color in the toolbar so that Photoshop will open the Color Picker. Then, when you sample a color on your canvas by pressing down on the mouse, the color of sampled area will appear under New as compared to the Current color. You'll also get the values of the sampled color.

@Myra Ferguson, do you mean using this panel?

1) it's even worse than the Info panel, because it's bigger, more distracting & requires additional clicks

2) the problem of looking back and forth remains

I just want to quickly check the lights and darks, so my suggestion is the best solution 🙂

There is a tiny sample that can appear with the Eyedropper.

Based on your screenshot, it doesn't look like you have it enabled.

To turn it back on, display the Options bar (Window > Options). Then in the Options bar, select Show Sampling Ring.

@Myra Ferguson, you need to look at my screenshot more closely...

But I never use that ring, it doesn't show the values, so it's useless (for me at least).

Excellent idea. You can see transform values, so why not colour values?

Are you posting to the right forum? I don't see an upvote option on your original post.

Would you add some more detail about your workflow or the use case where a feature like this would be handy?

If you're looking to copy a particular value that you've sampled with the Eyedropper tool, you can right-click and select Copy Color's Hex Code.

@Shangara Singh, the "Vote" button is to the left of the title and my avatar. I see it.

@Myra Ferguson, I don't need to copy anything, I need to CHECK if the highlights and shadows are in the appropriate range (not lower than 5-8 and not higher than 245-250). Yep, I can open the image in ACR and use the Histogram indicators.

But I'd like to have what I asked as well 🙂

Now it's your turn to explain why you don't support the idea... It's useful & easy to implement.

Hi Ivan, I'm a fellow Adobe user. I don't work for Adobe. I'm just trying to help you out with some suggestions for ways that you can access and use the information that you'd like.

It would be up to the Photoshop Team to implement your idea, so the more information you can provide for a use case and what you'd like it to do, the better.

@Myra Ferguson, the best help is a vote in this case 🙂 Thanks anyway.

OK...got it...new to forum...Upvote for posts is pretty obvious but that one for an actual feature isn't, IMO.
