I am getting the error "AAM Updates Notifier Application has stopped working". It happens every time I exit either Premier Elements 15 or Photoshop Elements 15 or if I double click the AAM exe file. I have read all the posts on the forum about this problem, and the main recommendation is to download the newest AAM updates program and install it.
I did that, but it is NOT installing. No error message, but the latest version is 10 and I'm still seeing the crash on version 9.0.0.281
How can I get the newer version of AAM to install over the old version? Or, how can I remove the old version to install the new version. It's currently crashing every day at 2am and every time I exit either Elements program.

Hi Richard,
Have you tried removing and reinstalling photoshop elements? I doubt that reinstalling only AAM could do some damage to PSE.
Though,it is very much recommended to reinstall Adobe Application Manager to resolve all your issues regarding AAM. But still if you are facing the same issue again and again, i would recommend a standard uninstall and reinstall of the PSE. This will definitely resolve the issue you are facing.
You can download and install latest version of AAM from following location:
Adobe - Adobe Application Manager : For Windows
Your feedback is really appreciated.
Thanks,
Rahul

Rahul,
Thanks. I will try that and report back here. The problem arose I think because I had Elements 13 installed and then installed 15 THEN removed 12. I think that created a discrepancy in AAM versions. Now 13 is gone.
Question: should I just reinstall 15 or remove 15 first? I'm installing both Premier Elements 15 and Photoshop Elements 15 and the AAM problem happens with both (as well as 2am every day). [EDIT: I re-read your answer and it clearly says remove and reinstall. I WILL do that]
Also interesting - I have Lightroom 5 (64 bit) and it is NOT giving any problems with checking for updates. It was installed some time ago.
Also a suggestion. I had Elements 13 installed. I had lots of video .prel files and didn't want to lose them - that's why I installed 15 without removing 13. However, it would be great to have a link to a FAQ on how to install a newer version of Elements over an older version.

I uninstalled Elements 15 (photoshop & premier), then rebooted, then reinstalled from disc. One very interesting thing is that when I installed with elements 13 on the system, it gave me the 32bit versions. With those removed as well as 15, it gave me the 64 bit versions. Much nicer.
I also verified everything was gone from the installed directories including common files before I reinstalled.
Photoshop seems to run OK but... If you click help/updates AAM STILL CRASHES.
Elements frequently won't exit for a long time, but... wait long enough and... AAM CRASHES.
One nice (?) thing is the crashing version of AAM is not 10.0.0.47 (the latest). AAM starts and tries to check for updates (spinning circle thing) then crashes.
At least I have the 64 bit versions installed now

Hi Richard,

4. Restart your computer
5. Click the following link to download AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe
http://download.macromedia.com/SupportTools/Cleaner/win/AdobeCr eativeCloudCleanerTool.exe
6. Run the above .exe file as administrator(Right click on .exe file and select “Run as administrator option”)
7. Follow the onscreen instructions in this order:

(Select option number for All-> Select the option number for Adobe Photoshop Elements 14)
8. Restart your computer
9. Ensure if the OOBE folder is deleted from following locations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
10. Rename "AAMUpdater" and "OOBE" folder names to "AAMUpdater_1" and "OOBE_1" respectively from the following location:
"C:\Users\{Current_User}\AppData\Local\Adobe"
10. Re- install PSE again
If the crash still persist, requesting you to attach crash dump. Following are the steps for creating crash dump:
1. Open command prompt by 'Windows (logo)->All Programs->Accessories->Run' or press key combination of 'Windows + R'.
2. Type "regedit" in 'Run' dialog to 'Registry Editor'.
3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps and create/update following registry entries:
<image001.jpg>
4. Once these entries are created, crash dump will get created at: C:\DumpStore
5. Attach the created entry in above folder.
Thanks,
Rahul

Thank you Rahul, I will do this.
But first, one critical question: will the AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe affect my current installation of Adobe Lightroom 5.7 (64bit)? I do not want to have to install that again.
Thanks,
-Richard

I could not complete all the steps. Specifically, I cannot run AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe because the only option that is applicable is 1) ALL. I cannot do this because I have Adobe Lightroom 5.7 installed and *heavily* customized. I simply cannot lose the configuration for Lightroom at this time as it's my primary photo editing tool and I need it daily.
So I did everything else and AAM still crashes *every* time.
I would like to enable crash dumps, but your instructions only go to <image001.jpg> which does not give me the keys and values in the registry to complete the process.
However, when AAM crashes, I clicked "view problem details" and this is what it shows. I'm happy to see the version is now 10.0.0.47 but it's still crashing.
