Administrator password needed to install Elements 11

I downloaded Photoshop Elements 11 from a link provided by Adobe support. When I go to install the application, a window pops up that says "Setup wants to make changes. Enter an administrator's name and password to allow this."

This is a Mac laptop that was provided by my work. I am new to Mac so I'm not sure what this is asking. I tried entering the email and password that I have registered with Adobe, but it didn't work. Does it mean I need someone from the IT department at my work to approve the app download?

Please be aware that many companies have a policy where all the software you install must be approved by the IT department, EVEN IF you can install it without them. In some companies, installing software yourself is a serious disciplinary offence. They may have strict policies that, for example, forbid installing software past the end of support (as Elements 11 is).

When I installed win 10, I refused the microsoft password and got in. If you are not an administrator, go to control panel top right select UAC (User Access Control) and manage account and change to administrator. Another way is to click on desktop icon, select properties and use as administrator. The first option is permanent, so best option.  It may not be exactly the same for mac but should be possible. Why do people use mac anyway, it is far too expensive.

The operating system is asking for your Log In password. The password you use when your computer starts up.

Moved to Photoshop Elements​

Hi Laurel,

Unfortunately without the admin password you will not be able to install any software. You need to have the admin password in order to install applications.
If the IT person enters the credentials, then the application will install and work as expected.
